Il Fedro di Platone. Commento

The purpose of this work is to give an interpretation of Plato's "Phaedrus", analysing its text and discussing the questions wich arise from it. A first section deals with the most general features of the dialogue (authenticity, transmission, dramatic date and date of composition, characters and places), in order to set it in its historical background and to try to define the role it plays among Plato's works, as well as its main themes. The second part of the commentary focuses on the text, divided into its dramatic sections: prologue, Lysias's speech, Socrates's first and second speech with their interludes, myth of the cicadas, sections on rhetoric, writing and spoken word, epilogue. The interpretation of the dialogue is based as much as possible on Plato himself and on his thought, as it is shown in the "Phaedrus" and in the related works, whose connection with the dialogue is pointed to every time there is an evidence of it.
