Abstract
In 1925, Dutch architect Jan Frederik Staal takes part to a national competition for the construction of an Opera House in the Museumplein in Amsterdam. The project should represent the artistic and cultural values of the entire nation. The aim of this contribution is to investigate the relationship between the history of the place and the project, thus identifying a continuity between the happening of the project and the reasons of the construction of the historical city. In the Dutch historical city, it is therefore possible to identify the founding principles that make up the theoretical framework that is essential to the understanding of the happening of the project of the theater. In this sense, the project shows a strong tendency to move in continuity and consistency with the history and the features of the country.Pubblicazioni consigliate
