The inclusive language classroom. The highly able students focuses on the characteristics of language acquisition observed in gifted learners and links them to the most effective language activities to be used. The monograph includes data collected by the author’s research which highlights and demonstrates the language abilities which gifted students are more proficient in and how they prefer or succeed in achieving language goals. Data has been collected from language teachers, gifted students and parents of students. The book is not only useful for teachers of highly able students but also for all language teachers, as it provides a clear description of the key aspects in language teaching and learning. In particular, it provides an insight into the following aspects: description of language competence, motivation, creativity, teacher’s role and learning environment, cognitive processes, and use of authentic materials. A full chapter is dedicated to language planning and assessment referred to the inclusive classroom. Fundamental considerations and recommendations are offered to manage the core of the language teacher’s job by providing theoretical and practical guidelines for the design and evaluation of students’ language processing. The second part of the book is dedicated to practical activities and strategies to be used for effective language teaching to gifted students. Based on previously mentioned research and on the main scientific studies, a list of language activities matching the verbal abilities of the highly able students is provided. The inclusive language classroom. The highly able students contains 38 language lessons for students aged: 7 to 11, 11 to 14, 14 to 18. Each example has specific and different language goals and demonstrates how to realize an effective language lesson.
