La relación entre autorrealización y sociedad en la Filosofía del derecho de Hegel

The aim of this paper is to analyze the problem of the relation between individual realization and social context in the Elements of the Philosophy of Right. To this end, I first examine the notion of “free will”, showing how it allows to understand self-realization not as the expression of an inner potential, but as a peculiar way of interacting of the individual with the surrounding reality. I then try to highlight the role that the state plays within this view. Finally, I propose some general remarks, dwelling mainly on the contemporary relevance of the Hegelian account.
