Notwithstanding, the excavation is completely covered at the end of every campaign, in order to better preserve archaeological structures for their future valorization. For such reason, various activities and open days, have been organized since 2014, and especially since 2016 with Fondazione Aquileia’s support, to make archaeological evidence visible to a larger audience. Even if the excavation is still in progress, hundreds of visitors, both turists and locals, participated and become acquainted with the past of the city and with archaeological field work. These activities are also part of the stage plan for students of the various courses in Archaeology and related disciplines in the University of Padua. In fact, in the excavation of Aquileia they can practice excavation and stratigraphic documentation, survey, drawing and analysis of archaeological materials.
