The dividend policy has been widely analyzed in the literature. In this paper we aim to understand the different characteristics of dividend policies of listed companies in the main European markets by considering data in the last 15 years. This study finds many difference among European dividend policies confirming the Black's "dividend puzzle" (Black 1976).
