The paper aims to illustrate the urban value that the completion of the coffee house Pedrocchi brought to the urban centre of Padua. The process of realization began in 1826 and the area in which the new building was to be realized was characterized by urban disorder. Jappelli's project also focuses on solving these urban problems. The interaction between the functions concentrated inside the building (coffee house, cultural meeting point, space of social and economic exchange) and its urban context, establishes a new landmark that manages to fit, seemingly without "violence", in the central zone of the city. The insertion of the new building created a new square, while the long façade on the east side turned what was a mere transit passage into a street with representative functions.
