It delves into the process of transforming memories into myths and investigates the presence and impact of Serbian national myths in history education. The study questions whether the influence and misuse of these myths violate the right to education, as outlined in the international framework. Through theoretical reflections on myth, the article analyzes the intersection of memory, myth creation, and their implications in political and social contexts. The overarching goal is to contribute to the existing literature on the relationship between mythology, history education, and the right to education. The study opens a dialogue on the challenges posed by national myths in education, particularly when dealing with a conflicting past, and concludes that their interference affects reconciliation and EU integration efforts.
