Abstract

Neurosciences are those disciplines joined by the study based on the relations between the structure of the brain (and the nervous system) and human behaviour. Social issues are tackled through the study of the physiological basis of the individuals, considering the interaction between brain and environment. In this work, I will try to analyse how the knowledge of the neurological structures tends towards the control of socially undesired behaviour, thus taking the road of an authentic 'neuro-civilization. Furthermore, I will show which role neuroscientists intend find for themselves in the Courts of Justice and in cultural debates; moreover, I will analyse the so-called reductive neurolaw, which is the gradual replacement of traditional sources of law with new neuroscientific standards. Finally, I will try to present the difficult elaboration of the concept of 'normality' as it is used to eliminate deviance and with the purpose of a direct brain intervention in the brain, with resulting critical issues for human autonomy and its cognitive liberty
