Promoting innovation processes in schools is possible if research listens to the needs emerging from the educational community. In order to make these needs emerge, however, it is necessary to bring into the school a practice of reflexive documentation that has a twofold purpose: on the one hand to highlight difficulties, and on the other to promote virtuous practices. Indire, with the Innova- tion Library and the Indire Schools Observatory research project, collects the testimonies of schools and promotes their dissemina- tion with a view to peer tutoring so as to highlight innovation and at the same time make it replicable in different contexts. Funda mental to this process is the collection of data, which, processed and analysed, opens a window on the school and the ways in which it supports system processes and teaching practices.
