The book offers a markedly multidisciplinary collection of scholarly studies on the political, social, cultural, economic and humanitarian issues that shape and embed cooperation and security relations, and nurture interdependencies in the Mediterranean area. It conceptualizes the Mediterranean both as a socio-cultural area and a geopolitical region and considers the basin both as a whole and as a set of interacting subregions. The volume departs from the perspective of the European Union and the problem of its actorness, so common in studies dealing with EU foreign policy. It offers analyses on the major issues and problems of the area, to provide readers with a comprehensive set of scholarly tools for understanding European current challenges and political strategies. Scholars from France, Italy, Morocco, Poland and Spain combine a multiplicity of perspectives and approaches, from international history to postcolonial studies, migration studies, geography, international law, cultural studies and tourism studies. The first part of the book provides the historical and theoretical backgrounds for understanding cooperation and security dynamics in the region. The second part focusses on thematic questions related to migration, cultural dialogue and education, human rights, infrastructures and international law.

Abstract
The second part focusses on thematic questions related to migration, cultural dialogue and education, human rights, infrastructures and international law.Pubblicazioni consigliate
