This paper presents an approach to motivate students in the humanities to gain computer skills through practical activities. The basic idea is to ask students to create an acoustic description of a number of paintings, using a web portal to upload the media content and an app to test, enjoy, and share the results of their work. The task was appealing to students that, in order to achieve good results in the sonification, they had to practice sound and image processing, learning and making the direct experience relevant concepts about resolution, sampling rate, and compression.
