Mercurino giurista e i suoi Consilia fra innovazione e tradizione

The article configures itself as a preliminary study of Mercurino Arborio di Gattinara’s career as jurist. It introduces the eight Consilia written by him between the end of the 15th Century and 1527, now kept by the Vercelli State Archives, focusing on two of them that deal with some suits of criminal law: Domini Polongherie contra Sachetus and, above all, Comunitas de Contes et nobilis Honoratus de Berra contra Iohannes de Serro, both dating back to about 1500. The aim is to contextualize the figure of Mercurino Arborio di Gattinara and those juridical argumentations and citations here used by him within the lineages of the ius commune, the legal system then in force in Continental Europe.
