We review recent developments in high-capacity wavelength division multiplexing optical transmission systems designed to cover each of the major transmission bands (O/E/S/C/L/U) within the low-loss window of silica optical fibers. After 100 km, we achieve a data rate of 322.8 Tb/s by transmitting 1,440 channels across a 36.1 THz bandwidth.

Abstract
