By monitoring the state of polarization of cables belonging to the MedNautilus submarine system in the Mediterranean Sea, we unambiguously observed the signature of the recent Mw 8.8 Kamchatka earthquake in two different cables. A clear precursor of the earthquake is observed in one of the cables.

Abstract
