Present data suggest that the use of opioid analgesics in Italy is still influenced by new drug marketing and admissions to reimbursable regimen rather than by legal factors. Moreover, in spite of the process of simplification, clearly much remains to be done to improve the quality of pain management in Italy, as confirmed also by data on consumption of opioid analgesics in the first 6 months of the 2010 apparently showing the same inappropriate trend observed in the previous years.

Abstract
Present data suggest that the use of opioid analgesics in Italy is still influenced by new drug marketing and admissions to reimbursable regimen rather than by legal factors. Moreover, in spite of the process of simplification, clearly much remains to be done to improve the quality of pain management in Italy, as confirmed also by data on consumption of opioid analgesics in the first 6 months of the 2010 apparently showing the same inappropriate trend observed in the previous years.File in questo prodotto:
