The preparation and the X-ray single crystal structure determination of [Mg(C7H7OH)6]Cl2 are described. The crystals are monoclinic, space group P21/c (N° 14), with a = 11.739(1) Å, b = 7.583(1) Å, c = 23.172(4) Å, β = 103.92(1)° and Z = 2. The structure was solved by direct methods and refined using full-matrix least-squares leading to final R = 4.22% and wR = 5.22%. The [Mg(C7H7OH)6]Cl2 adduct shows a ionic structure in which the Mg ion is coordinated by six benzyl alcohol moieties through the oxygen atoms. Moreover, each chloride ion shows “hydrogen-bonding” type interactions with three coordinated benzyl alcohol molecules through the hydroxylic hydrogens.

Abstract
Moreover, each chloride ion shows “hydrogen-bonding” type interactions with three coordinated benzyl alcohol molecules through the hydroxylic hydrogens.Pubblicazioni consigliate
