Three different methods for EPP determination are compared: the Grinstein and Wintrobe method, the Piomelli 'FEP test', test', and ZnPP determined with Hematofluorometer; 200 adult males were examined. The comparison between FEP test and the Grinstein and Wintrobe method (110 samples) showed significantly more elevated values with the first method, and the difference was statistically significant (p<0.02); the difference was more evident in the high values. The comparison between FEP test and automatic determination of ZnPP (70 samples) showed a good correspondence (difference not significant). The correlation between FEP test and PbB on 134 normal and lead poisoned subjects was very good (r=0.833). The mean FEP concentration in normal subjcts (70 unexposed subjects with normal PbB values) was 54.5 ± 13.8 μg ± 100 ml of RBC (m + 2SD = 82, range 27-84).

Abstract
The mean FEP concentration in normal subjcts (70 unexposed subjects with normal PbB values) was 54.5 ± 13.8 μg ± 100 ml of RBC (m + 2SD = 82, range 27-84).| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
