Summary: This paper is an introduction to the type-type identity theory of mind and body. In general, the identity theory of mind holds that every mental state is identical with some state in the brain. The inspiration for this theory is the way in which science expresses many of its discoveries in terms of identity. In the paper I start analysing these scientific identities. Then, I find a model for the identity-sentences of mind and body used by the type-type identity theorists. After that, I analyse some standard criticisms to the theory.
