We introduce the notion of global physical equivalence between two deformable thermoelastic bodies B and B0. This equivalence is understood in the sense that a global thermokinetic process forB is admissible (in the sense of Coleman & Noll) if and only if its counterpart forB0 also is admissible according to a suitable bijective correspondence k betweenB andB0. Here we prove a general theorem which establishes some conditions on the response functions of two deformable thermoelastic bodies that are necessary and sufcient for these bodies to be globally equivalent in the absence of heat sources.
