Serum cholinesterase was studied in a population of workers exposed to risk of intoxication by TOCP and n-hexane. The serum level of this enzyme was found to be lower in the group of workers than in a control group, and the phenomenon was much more evident in the female workers. The difference was statistically significant. The authors consider as a primary toxic action of TOCP and n-hexane a protidopoietic damage to the liver, while a more severe alteration of the liver and brain cells and a direct damage of these organs determine the neurotoxic syndrome.

Abstract
Serum cholinesterase was studied in a population of workers exposed to risk of intoxication by TOCP and n-hexane. The serum level of this enzyme was found to be lower in the group of workers than in a control group, and the phenomenon was much more evident in the female workers. The difference was statistically significant. The authors consider as a primary toxic action of TOCP and n-hexane a protidopoietic damage to the liver, while a more severe alteration of the liver and brain cells and a direct damage of these organs determine the neurotoxic syndrome.File in questo prodotto:
