Language and space are closely inter-related as they reflect, and are constrained by, fundamen- tal properties of the human conceptual system. n the present study, we investigated the com- prehension of spatial preposition using a sentence/ picture verification task with the aim of elucidating the role of real-world knowledge in the processing of sentences. The pattern of results shows that in the verification of the congruency of a sentence and its pictorial representation linguistic and non-linguistic factors play a relevant role.
