The control of eriophyoid mites: state of the art and future challenges

The Eriophyoidea include a number of species of economic importance, on perennial plants in agriculture and forestry. Their economic importance and pest status is reviewed. The available acaricide portfolio is also reviewed taken into account the EU legislation policy. Guidelines for sustainable control and resistance management with special reference to the European situation are reported. Biological and integrated control tactics of eriophyid mites are discussed. The relevance of studies on behaviour, epidemiology and diagnostics of these mites is pointed out.
