Swine pancreas preservation with Celsior solution

elsior solution is a new extracellular type of solution that was initially proposed as a cardioplegic solution in heart transplantation. Because of its low viscosity and antioxidant and antioedematogenic properties it was subsequently investigated experimentally and found suitable for lung, kidney, and liver preservation. It is now used with increasing frequency in clinical transplantation. However, this solution has not been used routinely as yet for pancreas preservation, possibly due to the lack of experimental data showing results after transplantation. The aim of this study was to evaluate Celsior in experimental pancreas transplantation.
