From May 1964 through December 1976, at the Department of CArdiovascular Surgery, University of Padova, Medical School, 148 patients underwent surgery for coarctation of the aorta; 62 of them were 18 years of age or older. The authors deal particularly with the clinical symptoms, operative findings, surgical technique and the postoperative complications of their series. The early (only three operative deaths) and late results are considered satisfactory, and are discussed, particularly as to the type of surgical intervention.
