A polarized triplet ESR spectrum has been obtained from an LHCII preparation and shown to originate from a carotenoid pigment contained in the complex. Structural and dynamic features of the pigment are shown to be very similar to those of the analogous pigment contained in B800-850 complexes isolated from Rhodobacteria.
