Four stratigraphic sections from three limestone quarries into the "Nummulitic limestone" carbonate complex and from a fossiliferous site (Fosse di Novale), in the Eocene of eastern Lessini Mountains (northern Italy) are analyzed. These localities are known for over a century because of their fossiliferous content, but recent biostratigraphic and sedimentologic studies are missing. Here we present preliminary results of biostratigraphic analyses based on planktonic foraminifers and calcareous nannofossils. Three different litozones within the "Nummulitic limestone" have been recognized. Basing on facies analysis, the "Nummulitic limestone" and the "Fosse di Novale" are both interpreted as belonging to a carbonate ramp, of which only the outermost facies are represented.
