A new catalytic, green procedure to produce dehydroshikimic acid (DHS) was developed. Platinum sulfophthalocyanine (PtPcS) was able to catalyze the aerobic oxidation of shikimic acid in water solution and at room temperature and I atm, giving selectively DHS as unique reaction product.

Abstract
