Abstract

In 1938 the fascist journal «La Difesa della Razza» began its editorial life. In the aim of legitimating the soon to be enacted Racial Law and further Jews persecution, the journal provided to produce and divulge the scientific and aesthetic visibility of enemy's identity. By following the metaphor of mask in its visual and textual implications inside the journal, this article suggests a research line to illuminate the deep similarity, in different genocidarian contexts, of discursive practices of violence, that endorse the escalation to physical elimination of envisioned enemy.
