Vibrations regarding both racing and city bikes have been detected. Accelerometers have been placed both on the handlebar and on the saddle in order to evaluate the accelerations transmitted to the hand-arm system and the whole body, respectively. Measurements have been carried out on different road surfaces and at different speeds. The vibrations spectral characteristics and the relationship between vibrations and road surfaces as well as between vibrations and speed have been studied. The dominant components appear at frequencies between 10 and 63 Hz. The frequency weighted acceleration values turn out to be high in case of uneven road surfaces and high speed.
