invThe paper investigates available literature and analyses selected case studies in order to create and test music education materials and lesson plans which utilizes a variety of teaching activities for the purpose of recognising and maximizing the students' various learning styles. The research intends to explore how people learn to play rhythms through body percussion, particularly the role played by learning styles within the BAPNE teaching method developed by Romero Naranjo at Alicante University. The BAPNE method can be tested taking into account how some pupils prefer structure and others like flexibility; some prefer independence while others like a social or group learning environment; some prefer auditory (hearing) input, others visual (seeing) and still others like kinaesthetic (movements) inputs. The study takes into account listening strategies and it relates them to different learning styles frameworks.
