The acquisition of angular momentum by tidal torques in expanding density perturbations during galaxy formation is addressed here using a simple model which applies a single theory to all the development from the epoch when inhomogeneities begin to grow up to the present epoch. The density perturbation of interest is modeled as a homogeneous ellipsoid and the neighboring ones as mass points, and the tidal torque due to the gravitational interaction of the quadrupole moment of the former with the tidal field induced by the latter is calculated within the Hubble flow. Some sample resulting configurations with typical axis ratios and with constant typical galactic masses are calculated.

Abstract
The acquisition of angular momentum by tidal torques in expanding density perturbations during galaxy formation is addressed here using a simple model which applies a single theory to all the development from the epoch when inhomogeneities begin to grow up to the present epoch. The density perturbation of interest is modeled as a homogeneous ellipsoid and the neighboring ones as mass points, and the tidal torque due to the gravitational interaction of the quadrupole moment of the former with the tidal field induced by the latter is calculated within the Hubble flow. Some sample resulting configurations with typical axis ratios and with constant typical galactic masses are calculated.Pubblicazioni consigliate
