An investigation is presented of the modeling of real galaxies, as a zeroth-order approximation, in such a manner that rotation can effectively determine their intrinsic shapes. After briefly discussing the connection between the presence of isotropy in pressures and observed metal content gradients in most galaxies, solid body rotating EC polytropes are proposed as acceptable models and the limits of such an approach are considered. Estimates are presented of the theoretical ratio of a characteristic projected rotational velocity to a projected peculiar velocity, and the apparent ellipticity is calculated for the range of axis orientations. It is found that real galaxies display their characteristics according to two distinct sequences. Qualitative considerations indicate that solid body rotating EC polytropes may yield a naive model of galactic evolution.
