The authors discuss intra and postoperative complications observed both soon and a long time after total hip arthroprosthesis application, performed at the Verona Orthopaedic Clinic utilizing various techniques and materials. This casuistic report is based on the review of 627 patients operated upon from July 1970 to July 1974. It was concluded that in spite of the complications encountered, though these formed only a very small number anyway, this type of operation should be continued, to enable the improving of the techniques and increasing of experience, with their corresponding progressive reduction of complications.
