Data on hygiene measures, structurel and management of 63 cattle herds from Emilia Romagna are presented and analyzed. The use of a special form for the the veterinary surveillance is discussed. Particular attention is given to the analysis of the methodological approach applied. By multivariate statistical methods were selected the herd characteristics associated with mastitis and respiratory diseases wich represent the main health problems
