This paper presents an approach to estimate Truck Annual Average Daily Traffic (AADT) of a road section from short period traffic count (SPTC), improving the interpretability of results with the measures of non-specificity and discord. The approach has been applied using data obtained in the Province of Venice, Italy, considering the characteristics of SPTCs such as duration and day of the week. The proposed method is found to produce accurate results, particularly for seventy-two hour SPTCs taken on weekdays. Furthermore, the measures of uncertainty help to interpret the quality of the estimates and indicate the need for additional data collection.

Abstract
This paper presents an approach to estimate Truck Annual Average Daily Traffic (AADT) of a road section from short period traffic count (SPTC), improving the interpretability of results with the measures of non-specificity and discord. The approach has been applied using data obtained in the Province of Venice, Italy, considering the characteristics of SPTCs such as duration and day of the week. The proposed method is found to produce accurate results, particularly for seventy-two hour SPTCs taken on weekdays. Furthermore, the measures of uncertainty help to interpret the quality of the estimates and indicate the need for additional data collection.Pubblicazioni consigliate
