The biological properties of unsaturated molecules such as unsaturated fatty acids depend on the stereochemistry of the double bond. The use of acetonitrile as a chemical ionization reagent in an ion trap allowed to determine the position of double bond in unsaturated hydrocarbons. C13 and deuterium labelling were used to study the mechanism of reaction.

Abstract
