Berkovich and Janko showed that a p-group not 2-generated and all of whose maximal subgroups are 2-generated has nilpotency class at most 2, when p is odd. In this article, we show that when p = 2, the nilpotency class of 2-groups not 2-generated and all of whose maximal subgroups are 2-generated is not bounded.
