Kant e l’idealismo della finalità nella Prima introduzione alla Critica del Giudizio

The First Introduction draws the attention to the principle of purposiveness, the innovative perspective characterizing the third Critique, in order to highlight its importance for the completion of the critical-transcendental program and to underscore the close connection between the aesthetic and the teleological judgment. The idealism of purposiveness constitutes the only hypothesis through which critical philosophy can explain the possibility of a judgment of taste having an a priori claim to universal validity. The fact that the conditions of possibility for the judgment of taste are identical for each subject implies the communicability of the judgment itself and determines its shareability. Thanks to the reflection on this aspect, Kant discovers a potentiality of our cognitive faculty that, without this inquiry, would have remained unknown, and identifies a remarkable fact for the transcendental philosopher, especially as the complete exposition of all the functions of subjectivity is concerned.
