The biological activity of some pyrrolocoumarin derivatives has been studied after UVA irradiation and in the dark in Ehrlich ascites tumor cells: only one compound seemed to be able to inhibit DNA synthesis by UVA irradiation with ID50 similar to that od the reference 8-MOP. However this compound appeared to be capable of interfering with DNA synthesis also in the dark.
