Rappresentare lo spazio urbano: I mass media, i luoghi comuni e lo ZEN di Palermo

The quarter ZEN is an eloquent example if the way in which the picture of urban space furbished by the media occupies the public sphere, influencing not only the political agenda and the logics of social intervention, but also the relations with the rest of the city and the self-comprehension of those who stay there. For a more correct representation, it is not enough to increase the quantity and quality of information, but there is a need to look again at the device which generates the representation, engaging oneself in discernment both epistemological and ethical, which is capable of reconfiguring the positions of the actors.

Il quartiere ZEN è un esempio eloquente del modo in cui l'immagine dello spazio urbano fornita dai media occupa la sfera pubblica, influenzando non solo l'agenda politica e le logiche di intervento sociale, ma anche i rapporti con il resto della città e la stessa autocomprensione di coloro che vi risiedono. Per una rappresentazione più corretta non basta incrementare quantità e qualità dell'informazione, ma occorre rivedere il dispositivo che genera la rappresentazione, impegnandosi in un discernimento, sia epistemologico sia etico, capace di riconfigurare le posizioni degli attori.
