Abstract
Current cell interconnection technology in a PV module is based on soldering three or four solder coated Cu ribbons on top and bottom of the cells, connecting them in series to create a string. An alternative approach being proposed by several equipment manufacturers is based on replacing the ribbons with multiple wires: this should enable at the same time higher module efficiency and significant cost reduction through consistent Ag paste reduction at cell level. On the other hand, a module reliability risk related to the introduction of a new technology has to be considered. Purpose of this work is to make a technical and economical assessment on the viability of a wire soldered interconnection with optimized metallization.Pubblicazioni consigliate
