Lussazione scapolo-omerale bilaterale in una capra di razza Cashmere: Descrizione di un caso clinico

A two years old female Cashmere goat was presented for a two-weeks old traumatic bilateral shoulder luxation. Medio-lateral and craniocaudal radiographs of the shoulder con-firmed the diagnosis. Concurrent scapular fractures or tho-racic injuries were not found. Taking into account animal's age and economical value, nature of the injury, client's wishes, and prognosis, the surgical reduction in two sequential steps was decided. Open reduction and internal stabilization were achieved in the right shoulder first, and on the opposite side three weeks later. In both cases arthrotomy was used. Postop-erative radiographs and clinical examinations were taken two weeks later to evaluate the scapulohumeral joint. Clinical im-provements were observed shortly after each reduction. Six months follow up, slight lameness was present on the right leg.
