The debate on the humanizing value or the risks of dehumanization of work is rooted in distant times: this issue is placed in the first pages of the Bible. We are going to read the thinking of Giovanni Gentile through dialogue (explicit and implicit) with Gino Corallo, who was his pupil. Neither Gentil nor Corallo have a real “pedagogy of work”, for that we organized our exposition around some issues relevant for both autors: the identity of education and its intellectual, moral and social aspects. In each of these issues we will look for links to the educational function and humanizing of work. Both Gentile and Corallo react to the fragmentation of knowledge that characterizes positivism and try to rebuild a profound unity of knowledge, but they move through different ways. The work plays an important role in education so that every worker can broaden the horizons of his professional culture through a fruitful collaboration with colleagues. Professional dialogue allows you to work for common goals and also enriches the subjective experience of each of the workers.
