Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) technologies are revolutionizing the scientific world, both in research and in translational fields. Recent advances in the analysis of genome, transcriptome, and epigenome can be almost entirely ascribed to these new powerful systems. This editorial summarizes some of the most recent applications of NGS technologies to the investigation of the immune system, from the organization of immune response and the study of the mechanisms attending its regulation to the interactions between immunity and microbiome and the development of new vaccines.

Abstract

Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) technologies are revolutionizing the scientific world, both in research and in translational fields.
