After the death of Emperor Henry VII, to whom the De gestis Henrici VII is dedicated, Albertino Mussato (1262-1329) did not interrupt his historical writing. In fact, he started composing the De gestis Italicorum post Henricum septimum Cesarem, in which he narrates the Italian history from the second half of 1314 to the June of 1321. The textual tradition of this work is quite peculiar: the first four books are transmitted by five medieval manuscripts, while books 5th to 7th by three, and the last part of the De gestis only by one manuscript, the Vat. lat. 4962. Firstly, in this essay my aim is to clarify when Albertino began composing the second De gestis; then, I propose the first complete description and analysis of the Vat. lat. 4962; eventually, I reconstruct the genetic relations between the manuscripts for the first part of the De gestis (books 1st-4th).

Abstract
After the death of Emperor Henry VII, to whom the De gestis Henrici VII is dedicated, Albertino Mussato (1262-1329) did not interrupt his historical writing. In fact, he started composing the De gestis Italicorum post Henricum septimum Cesarem, in which he narrates the Italian history from the second half of 1314 to the June of 1321. The textual tradition of this work is quite peculiar: the first four books are transmitted by five medieval manuscripts, while books 5th to 7th by three, and the last part of the De gestis only by one manuscript, the Vat. lat. 4962. Firstly, in this essay my aim is to clarify when Albertino began composing the second De gestis; then, I propose the first complete description and analysis of the Vat. lat. 4962; eventually, I reconstruct the genetic relations between the manuscripts for the first part of the De gestis (books 1st-4th).Pubblicazioni consigliate
