the article explores some issues related to the place of the birth family in the adoptive process. In particular he examines the paradox that the birth family is the absent absent on the adoption scene and often the great present in the thoughts and desires of adopted children. Some aspects of this paradox are analysed, also referring to the biographical trajectories of children separated from the birth families, who have subsequently developed unusual resilient pathways, to bring some reflection about the dilemma between cutting or continuity of affective relationships

Abstract

the article explores some issues related to the place of the birth family in the adoptive process.
