A statistical analysis of the differential group delay (DGD) in few-mode spun optical fibres is presented. In particular, it has been considered a sinusoidal spun fibre supporting the first 4 LP groups and perturbed by stress birefringence and core ellipticity. The numerical simulations, performed with the wave-plate model, show that spin may reduce modal dispersion (MD) but also changes its underling probability distribution.

Abstract
A statistical analysis of the differential group delay (DGD) in few-mode spun optical fibres is presented. In particular, it has been considered a sinusoidal spun fibre supporting the first 4 LP groups and perturbed by stress birefringence and core ellipticity. The numerical simulations, performed with the wave-plate model, show that spin may reduce modal dispersion (MD) but also changes its underling probability distribution.File in questo prodotto:
