This study examined the association between workaholism and two possible situational and dispositional antecedents of it, namely workload (a job demand) and perfectionism, in terms of self-oriented perfectionism (SOP) and socially prescribed perfectionism (SPP). Specifically, we hypothesized that both workload and perfectionism are positively associated with workaholism, and that perfectionism may exacerbate the positive association between workload and workaholism.

Abstract

This study examined the association between workaholism and two possible situational and dispositional antecedents of it, namely workload (a job demand) and perfectionism, in terms of self-oriented perfectionism (SOP) and socially prescribed perfectionism (SPP). Specifically, we hypothesized that both workload and perfectionism are positively associated with workaholism, and that perfectionism may exacerbate the positive association between workload and workaholism.
