The article reproduces the text of the report drawn up by the A. during the workshop in the occasion of the hundredth anniversary of the first Code of Canon Law (Pontifical Lateran University, 16th May 2017). The report proposes some reflections on the function and characteristics of a code in the Church's legislation, also highlighting the problems of using secular legal categories.
